web 2.0 tools in teaching and learning
Many people think that teaching is just about to transmit some information, and that for teach the only one requierment is to have a higher level of knowledge than the learner has but, the teaching and learning process could be a complex activity, there are many conditions that can affect a class, for example cultural or economical factors, the personal conditions and motivations of the learners, their age, the method used by the teacher, among others.
Today teachers and learners feel the necesity of innovate and to develop their classes in dinamical ways and using strategies and tools that could improve the aquisition of knowledge and to mantain the interest and motivation of the students. Many people has found the solution in the web 2,0 tools.
The web 2.0 tools have opened a world of posibilities in which both, students and learners can find all kind of information, activities of all imaginable characteristics could be developed and the variety of options offers to the teachers lots of strategies to use in order to make more interesting the class and to get a significative aquisition of knowledge.
Web 2.0 offers many advantages to the learning and teaching process, one of them is the easy access to the information, today, the majority of people has at least an smartphone in home, in which learners could use sites as facebook, many teachers are using this networking site for sharing videos and images about the subjects they teach, in the other hand, it is a way to stay in contact with students due that they can hace a bidirectional communication and they have the opprotunity to ask their doubts and share their thougths. Other important tools as Skype or the hangouts in Gmail, allows the bidirectonal and synchronic communication giving to teachers and learners the opportunity to develop their processes in any place at any time.
Youtube is also an important tool that presents videos of all kind of topics, and that allows also share the own ideas, it is library of videos in which you can find other eperineces and points of view, and tutorials and explanations of any topic, it helps to make a dynamical side to the classes.
One of the best options for teaching and learning is the Blog, in this tool you can share relevant information about any topic, share links, share infography, share pictures, and any other idea that you could have, the blogs could be built just for one person who will present the topics, and give to the readers the opportunity of make comments about it. But the best thing is that it can be build by more people, so all the persons that have permision could edit and share information in the blog. It is as a work in group with the advantage that any member can work since any place at any time, and that the work is ready to be presented in the web all the time.
Using web 2.0 tools could promote an environment of confidence and movement that helps to the students to be interested in class, teachers could combine this tools in order to offer to the students options that could help them to improve their knowledge in different skills, and the use of different strategies in class promotes the participation and the desires of learning.
